After Your Injection
What to Expect
- Most Patients do well after an injection.
- Mild soreness at the injection site is common.
- Symptoms may feel worse for 24-48 hours before improving (steroid flare).
- Relief usually begins within several days.
- Full effect may take up to 1-3 weeks.
Pain Relief Tips
- Ice the area for 15-20 minutes at a time.
- Over-the-counter pain medication may help if needed
- Gentle motion is encouraged.
- Avoid heavy use of the area for the rest of the day.
Activity
- Light activity is fine.
- Avoid heavy gripping or lifting for 24 hours.
- Gradually return to normal activity the next day.
When to Call the Office
- Redness or warmth that orsens after 48 hours.
- Fever greater than 101°F
- Sever swelling or worsening pain after 48 hours.
Follow-Up
If symptoms do not improve, we will review next steps at your follow-up visit.
